Your Lawyer - A Trusted Guide in the Process

Many divorce lawyers prefer to keep their clients at arms length, rarely meeting them in person and refusing to discuss the emotional aspects of the divorce. Many lawyers also try to dictate the terms of the divorce settlements to their clients assuming that they know best since they are the “experts.”

We feel that the better we know our clients, the better we can represent them. We believe that it is important to get to know our clients, the reasons behind their divorce and their goals for a property settlement and custody/visitation agreement. That allows us to work closer with our clients to determine what steps to take in the case and what direction to move the settlement discussions.

Further, in an amicable divorce your lawyer becomes more of an advisor than a hired gun. For example, in mediation or in a collaborative divorce, there is time for us to discuss your situation in depth and present alternative scenarios, instead of arguing in court, where we may have to make split second decisions on your behalf, with little or no input from you.
